Whats Challenge 100
2007 is a year of celebration for everyone in Scouting, and an important time to offer up a challenge to our young people through adventure. Challenge 100 aims to do just that. With Scouts from across the UK taking part, and completed as part
of the Join-in-Centenary programme, Challenge 100 will:
- help you deliver a Balanced Programme
- provide opportunities to get positive local media attention
- be great fun for every Scout taking part.
It couldn’t be simpler to take part:
Challenge 100 is a ‘Patrol’ competition. For the purposes of this event, Patrols consist of four to seven young people of mixed age and experience. If you run a Patrol system in your Troop, you can stick with your regular Patrols, or create new Centenary Patrols for Challenge 100 (and other Join-in-Centenary activities). You could even combine with another Troop or even with a non-Scout youth group to form special ‘mixed’ Patrols. It’s up to you!
The first part of Challenge 100 is a 100-minute task comprising of activities from every Programme Zone. You could complete the challenge at a Troop meeting, or as a separate activity in your Meeting Place or at a campsite. Record each Patrol’s results, and log them here on the website.
Each Patrol taking part will receive a certificate, and the top 100 Patrols will advance to the second stage of the challenge. Here, they will compete against other Patrols to complete 100 challenges in 100 days. The overall winners will get a fabulous day trip to the World Scout Jamboree as VIP guests!
